Heart of the City: A Night of Celebration and Purpose
Thank you to everyone who joined us for our 2nd annual Gala! We returned to Littlefield for an unforgettable, electric evening celebrating community, music, and the incredible youth of New York City.
An Unforgettable Atmosphere
Hosted by the phenomenal Terry Severe, the evening was charged with energy from the very beginning. Brooklyn-based samba quartet "Zamba 2 Samba" took the stage first, setting a vibrant, celebratory tone for the night. They were followed by 11-year-old superstar singer/songwriter Mariah Rae, whose incredible performance officially kicked off the main programming and left the crowd in awe.
Honoring Our 2026 Awardees
The true heart of the gala focused on honoring individuals making waves in our community. Joined by their wonderful, supportive families, our three 2026 Joyful Futures Scholarship winners—Frances Auth, Yaritza Asencio, and Joemi Quiroz Ortiz—were recognized on stage to support their journeys into higher education.
The evening also featured a brand-new milestone: the presentation of our inaugural "Heart of the City" award, proudly given to Jason Parker for his exceptional dedication and impact.
Powerful Remarks & Moving Traditions
Joyful Occasions CEO & Founder Patrick Manning delivered powerful remarks that moved the room, reminding everyone of the organization's profound journey, growth, and the community effort it took to get here.
Additionally, Janyce Rowe-Robinson shared a deeply emotional testimony, marking the beautiful beginning of our new "community testimony" tradition—a staple that will continue to ground our mission for years to come.

Our Inaugural Gala: May 31, 2025
On May 31, 2025, Joyful Occasions proudly hosted our inaugural gala, marking a significant milestone in our mission to give back to NYC’s youth in a fun and inclusive way. Netting $10,000 at an accessible $100 ticket price, we proved that community-driven joy can create serious impact.
The 2025 Joyful Futures Scholarship
The evening centered on the Joyful Futures Scholarship. We were proud to present $5,000 scholarships to two outstanding recipients—Jordyn Chambers and James Walls III—supporting their transition into higher education.
